The death toll in a tragic incident that unfolded at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Sydney increased to seven, as the perpetrator was revealed to have stabbed six individuals to death before being fatally shot by police.
Among the victims were five women and one man, while eight others, including a 9-month-old infant, sustained injuries during the chaotic ordeal.
New South Wales police, which swiftly responded to the scene, indicated that they were not treating the attack as terrorism-related.
