The European Medicines Agency affirmed on Thursday that AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine is a safe and effective jab.
Nevertheless, EMA’s Executive Director Emer Cooke stated that possible links between the vaccine and cases of blood clots could not be ruled out. Accordingly, the EMA suggested raising awareness concerning the risk and including it in the product information.
Cooke concluded by stating that the EMA will launch an additional inquiry to find out more about all of the reported cases of adverse effects. The announcement follows the decision made by more than a dozen European countries to suspend the vaccine’s rollout over concerns related to its unwanted effects.
