France sees new protests against security bill

Demonstrations against the so-called global security bill took place in a number of French cities on Saturday, including Paris, Lyon, Lille, Nantes and Strasbourg. The demonstrators were followed by others commanding the reopening of theatres and museums amid the coronavirus lockdowns.

The global security bill introduces a ban on publishing images of police officers. Its opponents debate that it would give extreme power to the police force and reduce accountability for perpetrators of police violence. Various rallies in the recent months have so far attracted approximately 500,000 people according to the organizers, or 133,000 according to the government
