France – Demonstration in Paris against Islamophobia and police violence

Around 2,000 individuals gathered in Paris on April 21 to protest against Islamophobia, police violence, and the occupation of Gaza.

Armed with placards with slogans such as “We are the descendants of the colonized whom you did not kill” and “Boycott Israel”, the protestors voiced their discontent with different forms of discrimination and oppression.

The communist mayor of Gennevilliers, Patrice Leclerc, criticized authoritarian measures such as prohibition on demonstrations and police violence.

Initially banned by the Paris police prefect for risks of disturbing public order, the march finally took place after a favourable judicial decision.

The event was supported by 51 organizations, including La France insoumise and the New Anticapitalist Party.
