Gaza: Blinken deplores number of Palestinians killed

American Secretary of State Antony Blinken welcomed this Friday, Israel’s decision to accept “humanitarian pauses” in its offensive in the north of the Gaza Strip while assessing that there was still “much to be done to protect civilians.

“I think progress has been made,” Blinken stated during a flying visit to New Delhi. “But I was likewise very clear that there was still much to be done in terms of protecting civilians and delivering humanitarian aid,” he added.

He said the United States was working on “concrete plans to do this.”

He affirmed that these “breaks” of 4 hours every day would make it possible to “save lives” and deliver more aid to the Gaza Strip.

“At the same time, much more must be done to protect civilians and ensure they receive humanitarian assistance,” he added.

“Far too many Palestinians have been killed,” Blinken said in a clear message to Israel.
