Half of G-a_z_a’s population suffers from extreme or severe hunger

According to a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) released on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, half of Gaza’s population is experiencing extreme or severe hunger, with 90% regularly deprived of food for entire days.

A spokesperson for Unicef underscored the critical situation, cautioning that without clean water, food, and sanitation provided by a humanitarian ceasefire, child deaths from disease could surpass those resulting from bombing.

The report highlighted that only 10 percent of the required food supplies have entered the Gaza Strip in the past seventy days. On Tuesday, 127 trucks of aid and goods entered the territory through the Rafah crossing via Egypt and the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south of Israel. Nevertheless, these supplies drop significantly short of meeting the most basic needs of the population.
