According to the latest Henley Passport Index, which evaluates travel freedom based on nationality, Singapore has taken the top spot by offering its citizens access to 192 destinations worldwide without a visa. This study, covering 199 countries, highlights significant disparities in visa-free access across different nationalities.
Germany, Italy, and Spain have made a strong entry into the top ranks, sharing the second position with France, Japan, South Korea, Austria, Finland, Luxembourg, and Sweden. Citizens of these countries can travel visa-free to 190 different nations.
Tunisia, on the other hand, ranks 70th in the Henley Passport Index, granting its citizens access to 71 countries without a visa. This number emphasizes the importance of international mobility for Tunisian citizens and their relatively easy access to numerous destinations around the world.
The Henley Passport Index relies on data from the International Air Transport Association and is regularly updated. It assesses the global mobility strength of a passport by considering the number of visa-free destinations available to its holder.
Beyond Singapore, several Middle Eastern countries have also secured positions in the ranking. The United Arab Emirates ranks 12th, allowing its citizens to travel visa-free to 179 countries, while Qatar ranks 52nd with 103 accessible destinations. North African countries such as Morocco and Algeria hold the 73rd and 83rd spots, respectively.
The results of the Henley Passport Index reflect the increasing importance of international mobility and the ease of traveling across the globe. While some countries improve their visa-free access policies to attract travelers and investors, others continue to impose restrictions on entry, leading to significant disparities among citizens of different nations.
