According to the Tourism Satellite Account (CST), a report issued by the INS, developments in the economic situation in the tourism industries reflect a considerable improvement in activity, which also appears to strengthen in 2022.
The key aggregates and indicators from the CST for the year 2022 reflect this recovery dynamic – especially in terms of employment – even if they stay below their 2019 levels.
It seems from the CST for the year 2022 that domestic tourism expenditure (at acquisition prices) stands at about 12.564 billion dinars, of which 7.822 billion (or 62.3% of the total) is attributed to international visitors. or non-residents.
The direct gross value added (GVA) of tourism, representing the net income generated by the tourism industry, amounts to 4.309 billion dinars, equivalent to 3.2% of the total GVA.
Likewise, the direct gross domestic product (GDP) of the Tunisian tourism industry is registered at 4.468 billion dinars, contributing 3.2% to the national GDP.
Tourism directly employed approximately 107 thousand people in 2022, or 3.1% of total employment in Tunisia.
