Italy on Friday announced 269 new fatalities from coronavirus, taking the total to 28,236.
The data published by the Italian Civil Protection Department affirm that the country has left behind the peak of the pandemic, as it plans for a partial lifting of the lockdown on May 4.
The tally infections decreased by 608 and now stands at 100,943.
Meanwhile, recoveries continued to soar, jumping to a record of 78,249 people.
