Japan reports record 480 COVID-related deaths

Japan recorded record 480 coronavirus-related deaths over the past day, the Health Ministry’s data revealed on Friday, setting a new record high as the country continued to battle its third outbreak.

The number of newly confirmed positive cases went down significantly to 144,077 from nearly 250,000 seen last week, while the number of severe COVID-19 cases slid to 695.
