Japan’s Izu Islands struck by 6.6-magnitude earthquake

The Izu Islands off the coast of Japan were hit by an earthquake on Thursday. According to preliminary data, the 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck at a depth of about 10 km near Torishima Island.

The Japan Meteorological Agency stated a tsunami warning is in place for the Izu Islands and the Pacific coast, with waves of up to 1 m expected. There is currently no information on casualties or damage.
