Japan’s Kishida to possibly visit N. Korea

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi (pictured) stated that the country is “paying attention” to comments made by Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un, that suggested her openness to a visit by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Yonhap reported.

“We are paying attention to the fact that Vice Director Kim has issued the statement,” Hayashi said. Kim Yo-jong expressed Pyongyang’s willingness to “mend ties” with Japan if Kishida does not bring up the question of Japanese abductees. “We remain unchanged that Japan intends to comprehensively resolve pending issues, such as nuclear and missiles and the abductions,” Hayashi stressed.
