Jordan sends large caravan of humanitarian aid to Gaza

The Jordanian army and the Secretary General of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity, Hussein Al-Shibli, reported that Jordan on Sunday dispatched a new aid convoy, the largest to date, to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Shibli said: “This convoy is the biggest in size since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip, consisting of 105 trucks,” according to a statement released by the Jordanian Hashemite charity. Jordan News Agency, Petra.

He clarified in the statement that “the convoy, which includes basic food items, including rice and flour, has been prepared and began sending it to the brothers in the Gaza Strip, arriving before Eid al-Fitr”.

He explained that “this convoy will be followed by several similar convoys as part of a plan to raise the number of land convoys headed to Gaza”, specifying that the aim is to double the aid sent through the durable relief land bridge to deliver aid and via the Kerem Shalom crossing to Akbar.

For their part, the Jordanian armed forces confirmed that “the sending of the convoy is part of Jordan’s wish to provide more aid to the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip to assist them overcome the conditions of difficult months of Ramadan and before Eid.

The Jordanian Armed Forces underlined that “they continue to send humanitarian and medical aid via an airlift, with humanitarian planes from Marka Airport to Al-Arish International Airport, or via airdrops on the Gaza Strip or ground aid convoys,” according to the statement.
