Lebanon sets new record, confirms 1,550 new COVID-19 cases

Lebanon crushed its record for the highest daily rise in coronavirus cases Thursday, affirming 1,550 new infections notwithstanding having set scores of villages under lockdown for more than a week and a half.

In another morbid development, Lebanon Thursday exceeded 500 deaths after two more people died from COVID-19.

The tally of cases in the crisis-hit country now stands at 58,648 infections and 501 deaths. There are currently 32,951 active cases in the country.
