Moderna Inc. announced on Friday that is suing Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE over infringement of its COVID-19 vaccine mRNA pattern.
“We are filing these lawsuits to protect the innovative mRNA technology platform that we pioneered, invested billions of dollars in creating, and patented during the decade preceding the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Stephane Bancel, the Moderna chief executive.
The lawsuit is not expected to have an impact on the manufacturing or supply of either jab, as Moderna stated.
