The phenomenon of “No Kids Zones” continues to increase in South Korea, where hundreds of zones have been specified as exclusively reserved for adults.
As such, the Jeju Research Institute has identified 542 of these areas, while a collective map on Google lists 459. This expansion, as reported by local media, worries the authorities, especially in the context of a declining demographic.
These zones, initially designed to guarantee the tranquillity of adults, are causing increasing segregation between different groups in Korean society, raising concerns concerning social cohesion, according to Korean sociologists.
