Russia halts its permanent mission to NATO

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Monday that the government will suspend the work of the country’s permanent mission to NATO starting from November 1.

Lavrov explained that the government made reciprocal steps after the news that activities of the NATO information office in Moscow were being halted.

The tensions were renewed earlier this month after NATO decided to expel several Russian diplomats from its mission in Brussels, cutting the total number of accredited positions by half.
