Russian war against Ukraine: Present situation (Ukrainian Embassy in Tunisia)

RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR UPDATES

  • Russia has significantly increased in May the intensity of missile and drone attacks against Ukraine launching 185 missiles and 408 Shahed drones.
  • Russia is waging a genocidal war against Ukrainian people seeking to kill as many Ukrainians as possible and make the lives of the rest unbearable.
  • The enemy will not be able to break the will of Ukrainians. Russia with its terror only strengthens the national hatred of the Ukrainian people.

RUSSIA’S BLOWING UP OF THE KAKHOVKA HYDROELECTRIC DAM

  • On 6 June the Russian occupiers blew up the dam at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. It resulted in the biggest ecological and humanitarian disaster in Europe in decades.
  • Possible purpose of the terrorist act is to flood the islands in the downstream of the Dnipro River, which were liberated the day before by Ukrainian Defence Forces to prevent further counteroffensive operation on the left bank.
  • Any attempts to accuse Ukraine of sabotage are absurd. Russians mined the dam and blew it up. Kyiv publicly warned about the threat of the tragedy back in autumn 2022.
  • This terrorist attack will in no way affect Ukraine’s ability to liberate all temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory.

WARFARE ON THE TERRITORY OF RUSSIA

  • Recent events in the Belgorod region of Russia are an internal conflict between the Putin regime and “Russian Liberation Movement” (RLM). The RLM conducts successful operations.
  • Putin’s regime was not ready to suppress the armed resistance of Russians on its territory, so, the latter is actively growing.
  • Russian resistance forces are becoming a new political factor that will need to be considered in the context of the peacekeeping process.
  • Ukraine defends its land and does not conduct hostilities on the territory of Russia.

MEMBERSHIP OF UKRAINE IN NATO

  • Russia is not only at war with Ukraine, its goal is to destroy the unity of the West.
  • Future of the Euro-Atlantic community is being decided at the frontline of Ukraine.
  • Ukraine will significantly strengthen the security of the entire Euro-Atlantic community having a powerful army.
  • Russian expansion to the west will not be stopped without solid guarantees of security and protection of Ukraine.
  • Ukraine expects NATO allies to take a decisive step towards membership of Ukraine in the Alliance.
  • The next NATO summit will be held in July 2023 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The issues related to Ukraine are also on its agenda.
