Russian war against Ukraine: Present situation (Ukrainian Embassy in Tunisia)

 

RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR UPDATES

• Ukraine’s defense forces have been successful in several areas.During the week 7 settlements have been de-occupied, 103 km² have been liberated.
• Ukrainian troops also advanced in Bakhmut area.The battle for Bakhmut continues: Ukrainian forces are advancing on the flanks, counterattacking and improving their tactical position.
• The enemy suffers great losses. In some areas of the front, its losses in manpower are 6-9 times greater than those of the Ukrainian side.
• The feverish attempts of Russian propaganda to underestimate the effectiveness of Western weapons, on the contrary, indicate its high efficiency on the battlefield.
• Western military equipment has demonstrated its reliability.Even if it is damaged the crews remain alive.

 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RUSSIAN TERRORIST ATTACK ON THE KAKHOVKA HYDRO POWER PLANT

 

• The International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague launched an investigation into the explosion of the Kakhovka dam. European Parliament officially recognized this terrorist attack as a Russian war crime.
• This court has already issued a warrant for the arrest of Putin. In this case as well, decisive action is expected.
• Russian war criminals will not be able to overturn by either negotiations or peace agreements.
• Ukraine calls on the G7 and the EU to consider the possibility of introducing new severe sanctions, related to the Russian missile industry and the nuclear sector.

EURO-ATLANTIC INTEGRATION OF UKRAINE

Ukraine’s accession to NATO is supported by 20 countries of the Alliance.
• Adaptation to NATO standards and Western weapons allowed Ukraine to withstand the full-scale Russian invasion.
• Ukraine’s integration into NATO is the only way to create a security belt for Europe against current and future Russian expansion.
• Ukraine expects a strategic decision concerning its integration during the NATO Summit in July.

 

AFRICAN LEADERS’ PEACEKEEPING MISSION

• Ukraine welcomes the visit by the heads of statesand officials of South Africa, Egypt, Senegal, Zambia, Comoros and Uganda to Kyiv.
• Negotiations with African leaders will make it possible to find out whether there is space for joint efforts that would bring peace in Ukraine closer.
• The goal is to unite as many countries as possible around the peace formula of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. These six African countries have the opportunity to join in the implementation of its individual points.
• Any peace initiatives must respect two fundamental principles: no territorial concessions by Ukraine and no freezing of the conflict.
