Russian war against Ukraine: Present situation (Ukrainian Embassy in Tunisia)

ADVANCEMENTS OF UKRAINIAN ARMY

• On April 19, the Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber. Ukraine opened the score of destruction the enemy strategic bombers in the sky. Russian aircraft was hit at a distance of more than 300 km, which is a significant achievement of Ukraine’s Air Forces. Russia uses Tu-22M3 aircraft to attack Ukrainian cities with X-22 missiles, which are difficult to intercept.

• The successful operation against Russian strategic aircraft significantly reduced the missile threat to Odesa and other cities in southern Ukraine.

• Defense Forces of Ukraine are increasing their capabilities to repel the Russian aggressor. Ukraine will not leave any act of Russian terror unpunished.

ACTIVATION OF WESTERN ASSISTANCE TO UKRAINE

• On April 23, the upper chamber of the U.S. Congress voted for the law on aid to Ukraine providing almost 61 billion USD. Ukraine is grateful to the U.S. congressmen who supported this extremely important decision. The vote confirmed that Ukraine has bipartisan support in the United States. Ukraine will receive weapons in the shortest possible time.

• British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed the allocation of a £500 million defence support package to Ukraine. U.K. is a reliable partner and ally of Ukraine, which has been helping to resist Russian aggression since its beginning. This is the largest defence aid package provided from the U.K. to Ukraine. It includes 400 pieces of equipment, four million ammunition, air defence elements and Storm Shadow missiles.

• U.K. concluded the first Agreement on Security сo-operation with Ukraine (January 12, 2024). Since then, 8 other countries followed this example.
