Around 26 Tunisian human rights associations have called on Tunisian authorities to guarantee the protection of Tunisian nationals abroad and demand truth and justice for migrant individuals who are victims of violence or have died in detention centers known as Permanent Repatriation Centers (CPR) in Italy.
The press release, published on the FTDES website, asserts that Tunisian nationals constitute the majority detained in Italian CPRs, with approximately 9,506 Tunisians over the last four years out of a total of 17,767 migrants, representing 53%.
The same source also reveals that “as part of the readmission agreements, Tunisian nationals are also the main nationality to be repatriated from Italy, with approximately 6,758 Tunisians representing 57% of the total number of repatriates(…).”
