South Africa wants ICJ to order Israel to halt G-a-z-a operations

Lawyers representing South Africa in the genocide case against Israel asked the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to issue a provisional measure ordering Israel to halt the conflict with Hamas, claiming Israeli government officials and military commanders “have systematically and in explicit terms declared their genocidal intent” toward Palestinians. They argued that this intent is corroborated by “publicly available evidence of the scale of the destruction resulting from the bombardment of Gaza, and the deliberate restriction of food, water, medicines and electricity.”

South Africa urged the ICJ to impose the provisional measure urgently due to the severity of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as it continues to consider the evidence in the case. Israel, which has rejected the accusations, is scheduled to respond to them tomorrow.
