Tunisia-Advertisement for electronic cigarettes on storefront in capital.. Riahi confirms illegality of these practices [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, head of the Consumer Guidance Organization Lotfi Riahi confirmed that it is legally banned to advertise anything that is alcoholic, cigarettes, or electronic cigarettes via advertising posters found in public places, stores, and advertising flashes as well.

Riahi clarified that the usage of advertising campaigns in this direction is punishable by law, pointing out that the body permitted to carry out the oversight process is the Ministry of Commerce, and every violator is subject to the penalty of prohibiting advertising and a financial penalty determined by the Ministry.

The speaker attracted attention to the necessity to activate control over advertising content in general, particularly in light of the spread of false advertising for numerous materials, including non-medical materials that are promoted as such, underscoring the importance of stopping such practices because they negatively affect the consumer.

It is noteworthy that Tunisie Numérique camera observed an advertisement for a type of electronic cigarette in a commercial store in the capital, which is considered a violation of Tunisian law and at the same time raises the question of why this offence has not been addressed.
