Tunisia- [Audio] Imed Ben Halima: Al Kamour crisis: A dignified state does not negotiate on its knees

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, lawyer Imed Ben Halima comment on the ongoing negotiations between the government and the of Al Kamour coordination. He stressed that the valve which the target of the conflict, was in a “restricted ” military zone, questioning how the protestors were able to enter the premises.

Mr Ben Halima stated that even from a formal point of view, the state cannot negotiate with “bandits”, given the devastating consequences that such an attitude could have on its image, particularly internationally. He said that the lifting of the sit-in should be made as a precondition before the resumption of negotiations.

The activist also said that the UGTT had sided with the sit-inners and that the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, as the supreme chief of the armed forces, should not remain inactive in the face of such as situation.
