Tunisia central bank Board of Directors resolved on Friday after its periodical meeting to preserve its key interest rate stable at 7.75%, according to the TAP agency.
The board remarked, nevertheless, that this increase “remains weak and should be sustained by the hastening of the growth rate through exercising further efforts of the parties involved to restore production capacities”.
The Bank further recommended boosting investment endeavours and export promotion, in addition to quickening the speed of reformations directed at encouraging economic performance, enhancing the business climate and securing the sustainability of overall financial balances”.
The bank increased the rate in February to 7.75% from 6.75% in an attempt to fight record-high inflation.
