Tunisia – Bizerte: Arrest of individual sentenced to more than 350 years in prison

The public prosecutor at the court of first instance of Bizerte authorized the arrest of a man in his thirties on the content of the judgments in absentia which condemned him to a prison term of more than 350 years for fraud and issuing checks without balance.

Available data shows that information was received by National Security agents in Menzel Jemil, in the governorate of Bizerte, according to which a young man in his thirties, from the region, on the run due to the content of several jail sentences in absentia, is hiding in the city. An ambush was set up for him in a market, which resulted in his arrest.

According to the same data, by confirming the identity of the young man through the automatic system, it was discovered that he was wanted by several courts, for crimes related to fraud and the issuance of bad checks. The total length of the sentences handed down against him in absentia amounts to more than 350 years in prison, most of which were subject to immediate execution.
