Tunisia- Citrus production falls by 17%

Citrus production for 2019-2020 reached approximately 366, 000 tons in marked contrast to 440,000 tons during the 2018-2019 season, a recorded fall of 17% in the industry, announced the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Samir Taieb.
The marked fall in the local production of Citrus is properly attributed to an observed increase in temperatures during the growth of fruit which naturally prompted their drop.
Moreover, Almost 10,000 hectares of state-owned agriculture estate will be utilised to set up cooperative farming units in several governorates, particularly Siliana, Kairouan, Sidi Bouzid, Zaghouan, El Kef, Béja, Kasserine and Kébili, the minister added.
