Tunisia – COVID-19: New measures in favor of the cultural sector

A small ministerial council met this Wednesday, November 4, 2020, to study and adopt urgent measures in favour of the cultural sector, with a view to cushioning the economic and social repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.

The presidency of the government has decided to take the following measures to this end:

  • The rescheduling of the debts of artists, creators and cultural institutions affiliated to Social Security.
  • The doubling of the old-age allowance for the benefit of artists, creators and intellectuals covered by the social cover system for the cultural sector.
  • The allocation of additional funds at the end of 2020 to cover circumstantial social assistance to artists, creators and workers in the cultural sector, up to 6 million dinars.
  • The simplification of procedures related to the salvation of royalties from artists, creators and intellectuals.
    Adopt a health protocol for cultural activities from November 15, 2020, taking into account the changing health situation.
