COVID-19 updates in Tunisia:

Health authorities recorded 1951 new cases and 48 deaths, bringing the death and infection tally to 9087  and 264.994 respectively.

The high surge in infection is putting pressure on hospitals as some has reached a point of saturation in ICU units. Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Director of the Beja Regional Hospital, Taoufik Ferah announced that the hospital has reached its maximum reception capacity in the COVID unit.

The same goes for the region of Grand Tunis where the regional director of health in Tunis confirmed on Wednesday that the ICU beds have almost reached saturation in the Tunis region, with an occupancy percentage bordering on 100%, at Mongi hospital Slim at La Marsa and at SAMU for example.

 

On it, part The national authority for the fight against the coronavirus announced on Wednesday evening new measures for the period from April 9 to 30. The measures include a curfew from 7 PM and the closure of weekly markets in addition to a  mandatory self-containment imposed on travellers entering Tunisia as well as banning gathering.

Likewise, Mohamed Boussaïd told Shems FM that price regulation will only be used in extreme cases.

Postponement of the transport strike

The Ministry of Transport and logistics has announced the postponement of the strike scheduled in the transportation sector on April 8.

Constitutional Court:

The plenary session dedicated to the election of 3 members of the Constitutional Court, programmed for Thursday, April 8, 2021, has been postponed.

However, The Cabinet of Parliament decided on Wednesday, April 07, 2021, to hold a plenary session on Thursday, April 15 to examine president Kais Saied response to the bill amending the law on the Constitutional Court.
