A tripartite meeting happened today at Sheikh Rached Ghanouchi’s home who brought together prime minister Hichem Mechichi, and Ennahdha’s chief ally and 9alb Tounes leader Nabil Karoui.
The meeting viewed the prevailing situation and the potentialities of solving it, and, essentially, the steps to be initiated in order to proceed to a ministerial reshuffle, leading to the founding of partisan government.
At this level, the discussions between the three men had the first failure, insofar as the Sheikh asked from Mechichi, the instant dismissal of his chief of staff Moez Mokaddem and the secretary-general of the government Walid Dhahbi. These two men have frequently annoyed the Sheikh and his lieutenants in designating their supporters to key posts in the administration. The final aim of the Nahdhaouis, particularly in these difficult times.
This subject was the grain of sand that obstructed the mechanism of the three-man cartel. Because, from a close source, Mechichi would have opposed clearly these demands.
Adjourning the meeting, Sheikh gave Mechichi a few days, from now till this weekend, to give his final answer to this question.
On the other hand, the three men agreed on the selection of Ridha Belhaj, the former leader in Nidaa Tounes and aide-de-camp of BCE, as political adviser to La Kasbah.
