Tunisian justice has decided to extend the incarceration of the Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) in Kasserine, Sanki Assoudi, for an extra period of 48 hours, on Thursday, February 8, 2024. This action follows suspicions of falsification of a scientific certificate within the Société Nationale des Pâtes et Papiers, where Sanki Assoudi furthermore occupies the position of head of the department.
The legal proceedings against Sanki Assoudi had initially begun the previous Tuesday, after which the prosecution authorized his arrest. This extension of detention comes at the expiration of the initial legal deadline of 48 hours, underscoring the seriousness of the accusations against him.
