The final report of the Truth and Dignity Commission (IVD) was issued in a special issue of the Official Gazette of the Tunisian Republic (JORT), the services of the Minister in charge of Human Rights and Relations with Constitutional Bodies and Civil Society announced on Wednesday.
The ruling is a portion of the government’s pledge to execute the recommendations of transitional justice and to publish the final report of the IVD in the JORT, in accordance with the provisions of Article 67 of Organic Law No. 2013-53 of December 24, 2013 on the establishment of transitional justice and its organisation.
The IVD, which commission was ended on December 31, 2018, stated the publication of the report in JORT “is an opening point to fulfil the recommendations of the Authority and complete the transitional justice process.”
On March 27, 2019, the IVD published its final report and posted it on its website.
The final report was presented by IVD president Sihem Ben Sedrine to the late president of the Republic Beji Caid Essebsi, former Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives Mohamed Ennaceur, and to former Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.
During a hearing of Minister in charge of Human Rights and Relations with Constitutional Bodies and Civil Society Ayachi Hammami by the Committee on Revolution Martyrs and Injured and Enforcement of General Amnesty and Transitional Justice on June 16, certain MPs called for the creation of a committee to review the IVD report before its publication.
