On the occasion of his official visit to Moscow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar held a working meeting today, September 26, 2023, with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov
During this meeting, they examined ways to revitalize bilateral relations after overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 crisis.
The Head of Diplomacy was accompanied during this visit by the Director General of the Cereals Office, who held talks with the Russian authorities regarding the supply of cereals to Tunisia at preferential rates.
On this occasion, the two ministers voiced their desire to strengthen cooperation, with mutual respect and avoid any interference in internal affairs, especially in the economic and commercial fields, in particular the supply of cereals, fertilizers, and energy, as well as in the tourism sector.
They also confirmed their intent to hold the 8th session of the Joint Commission in the near future, while continuing negotiations on draft bilateral agreements and overseeing the implementation of the agreements reached between the two countries, we read in the same press release.
The two ministers exchanged views on several issues of common interest, notably the Palestinian question and the responsibility of the international community with regard to the protection of the Palestinian people and respect for international law.
They likewise discussed the reform of the international governance system, the fight against irregular migration and criminal networks.
