Tunisia-Hachani – Attal meeting: roadmap to explore new cooperation opportunities

Prime Minister Ahmed El Hachani held a working session with the French Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, at the Palais Matignon in Paris on Thursday, February 29, 2024. This meeting, which likewise involved key figures such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, the Minister of Economy and Planning, Feriel Ouerghi Sebai, and the Ambassador of the Tunisian Republic to France, Dhiaa Khaled, concentrated on enhancing the strategic cooperation between Tunisia and France across various sectors.

During the session, the beneficial economic cooperation existing between the two nations was commended, with mutual recognition of the necessity to further this collaboration and expand into new areas. The talk underscored Tunisia’s attractive business environment and the significance of boosting French investments in high-potential sectors including the automobile industry, energy transition, renewable energies, aeronautics, artificial intelligence, and tourism.

Hachani emphasised the importance of convening the fourth session of the Supreme Council of Tunisian-French Cooperation in Paris, seeking to establish a roadmap and identify new opportunities for cooperation in the future.

The need for enhanced support from the European Union, in alignment with Tunisia’s developmental needs, was also highlighted during the discussions. Both sides engaged in dialogue on various issues of mutual interest and the emerging challenges on regional and international stages. A particular focus was set on the importance of deepening consultations to foster peaceful resolutions to regional crises, notably the conflict affecting the Palestinian people.

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal praised the current level of cooperation between Tunisia and France, stressing the need to intensify bilateral consultations and bolster economic and investment collaboration. He echoed the significance of promptly organizing the fourth session of the Supreme Council of Tunisian-French Cooperation, reinforcing the shared commitment to strengthen the bonds between the two countries.
