Tunisia-HAICA requests to provide protection to journalists

The Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication called upon the Presidency of the Republic and deputies to grant protection to journalists and to denounce any rhetoric encouraging violence and hate.

The authority condemned the straightforward provocation to violence against journalists by a deputy, who called the relationship between the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) and journalists a merciless war.The HAICA described this call as a  bad sign  with the future connection with the recently elected Parliament.

The authority requested the Presidency of the Republic and Parliament to adopt significant steps to evade hate speech, isolation and incitement to violence against journalists.
