The incident took place yesterday Tuesday, December 22 at the end of the health ministry press conference generated an outcry on social media.
Indeed, an official in the ministry desired to whisper something significant to the minister to announce it to the Tunisians, but the latter declined and felt it was not the right time.
Speaking on Wednesday, December 23 on Mosaique FM, the minister of health Faouzi Mehdi acknowledged that he did not want to declare that people from areas where the new strain of the virus has been detected will be subject to compulsory quarantine.
“We do not yet know where exactly this strain was detected, we did not want to create panic”, he justified. According to the minister, it is still early to announce these new measures, the progress of the situation must be monitored in coordination with the WHO.
