Director of the Institut Pasteur Hechmi Louzir spoke on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, regarding the details of the vaccination campaign assuring that it should start at the end of this week.
Speaking on National Radio, he reemphasised that healthcare staff, residents of retirement homes and people above 60 years and suffering from chronic diseases would get the vaccine first. He said the vaccines would be allocated according to their typology revealing, for example, that the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will be sent immediately to vaccination centres through the Central Pharmacy in order to keep the cold chain. The Russian vaccine must be stored at -20 ° C.
Quoting the case of the British vaccine AstraZeneca, Louzir said that it can be stored at a temperature between 2 and 8 ° C. It will be stored in cold rooms and sent to regional centres and then be distributed to vaccination centres.
