Hirak Tounes Al-Irada party considered that the Head of State Kais Saied issued an extremely dangerous decree involving the revision of the Independent Higher Authority for Elections (Isie) and the change of its composition. In a statement issued on Monday, April 25, 2022, the movement defined this step as being taken by those who plunged the nation into a cycle of constitutional and institutional instability aimed at destroying Isie. The party likewise confirmed that “the putschist authority” continues to take destructive measures therefore targeting constitutional institutions, affirming that the President of the Republic has crossed all red lines. In this sense, it called on all Tunisians concerned about the democratic path to condemn the “putschist power” and to inflict a return to constitutional legitimacy before reaching the stage where it is impossible to save the country.
