The spokesman for the National Guard, Houssemeddine Jebabli, revealed that the maritime units thwarted, on the night of Sunday to Monday, six attempts at illicit crossing of the maritime borders and rescued 179 irregular migrants from sinking.
He explained that the coast guard relating to the districts of Mahdia, Sfax, and Kerkennah thwarted five irregular migrations and saved 142 migrants, including 137 sub-Saharans, after the sinking of their boats.
