The Tunisian market has witnessed a considerable increase in the standard price of consumable goods for August, prices for food jumped to 7.4 % in marked contrast to 6.5% in July.
Vegetable prices increased to 12.5 %, milk and egg products grew tremendously by 9.5 %, grain prices by 7.8 % and juices by 7.6%.
Values of manufactured goods expanded to 8.1 %, due to a marked increase in the prices of home maintenance and cleaning materials by 10.2% and 10 % respectively.
Economic inflation for August 2019 (without counting energy and nutrition) grew by 6.7 % against 6.5%, in July 2019.
Tobacco prices increased by 16.1% in August 2019. Consumer prices in August 2019 progressed by 0.6 1% in direct comparison to 0.3 % in July.
Clothing and footwear costs decreased by 4.6 % at the beginning of the summer sale season
Fruit prices rose to 6.11 %, egg prices increased to 4.4 1% and sheep meat by 1.8 %, while chicken prices promptly fell by 2.2 %.
