Following complaints from an elderly person to a radio station concerning his exposure to violence at the Kairouan retirement home on Friday, the Ministry of Women said that it is closely observing the situation of the elderly person and its services reached the person concerned in a timely manner to monitor their situation and determine their needs.
The elderly person indicated that he had profited from the services of the “Table Permanente pour les Déprunis” program (belonging to the Tunisian Solidarity Union) in the said institute and confirmed having been the subject of verbal and physical violence by the heads of the establishment following a conflict between them.
Based on the desire of the elderly person concerned to be accommodated in a reception establishment for the elderly in Sousse, the regional delegate for women and the family in Kairouan was responsible for providing him with proper psychological support and taking the required steps to the opening of an inquiry and the creation of a file for his accommodation in an establishment for the elderly.
Indicating, in the same context, coordination with the director of a retirement home in Sousse to accept her accommodation over the next few days.
