Tunisia-Kais Saied attacked by Nobel Peace Prize winner Tawakkol Karman

Tawakkol Karman, the winner of the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, has frequently dared to attack the President of the republic Kais Saied through tweets posted on her account, which was followed by more than 1.2 million subscribers. It should be remembered that Kais Saied remains “the Tunisian Head of State” and is by the text of the constitution “the guarantor of the unity” of Tunisia.

More than 2 million Tunisians cast their votes for him in the 2nd round of the presidential elections. Tawakkol Karman permitted herself, in addition to intervening in the internal affairs of Tunisia, to make fun of Saied’s physique, his way of speaking…. a Behaviour at the very least unworthy of a person who alleges to be a humanist.

Yet we have not seen such hostility towards those who attack her own country today. Is Tunisia dearer to her heart than Yemen? Before sweeping in front of others, wouldn’t it be better to sweep in front of her door? Karman’s gratuitous offences appear all the more bizarre when you consider that like Kais Saied, the latter derives her reputation from the respect and the love her people have for her.

Do we wonder then what the Tunisian president was able to do to attract the anger of this pacifist whose fight is largely focused on women and young people?

It should be noted, nevertheless , that as reprehensible as it is, Tawakkol Karman’s behaviour is less disgusting than that of the few Tunisians who take advantage of it to serve their partisan interests.
