The Ministry of National Defense announced that two ocean-going vessels and a military helicopter conducted at dawn an arrest of two Egyptian trawlers, who were illegally fishing in Tunisian waters at dawn in the east of the island of Kerkennah (Governorate of Sfax).
In a statement, the ministry declared the seizure of the two boats, with 28 Egyptian sailors on board, was part of the Ministry of National Defense contribution to preserving fishery resources and stopping the overfishing of foreign boats off the Tunisian coast.
The Maritime Intervention Unit was capable to control the two boats and take them to the main naval base in Sfax to take legal action against them.
