Tunisia-Maghzaoui: “People’s trust in President of Republic reason for decline in protest movements.”

In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, the Secretary-General of the People’s Movement, Zouhaier Maghzaoui, remarked that it is known that December and January of each year see the peak of social, sectoral, and regional demonstrations, but it is noted that these protests are nearly very rare during January, about two years ago, as reports also talked of an extremely important reduction in the pace of protests, despite the difficult Tunisian economic situation.

Maghzaoui added that the only answer for this is people’s trust in the President of the Republic and their patience in permitting him to improve the deteriorating social conditions, underlining that this issue is very important, citing that anyone who considers this situation to be a fear of repression is a wrong interpretation, particularly since the Tunisian country has witnessed some protest movements. On more than one occasion it was dealt with in distinct ways.

Our speaker also highlighted that this places a great responsibility on President Kais Saied, given that the people’s patience could run out if the economic and social conditions in the country do not improve.
