Tunisia-Malek Ayari reveals reasons for substitute teachers to boycott lessons and carry out protest movements [Video]

Yesterday, Monday, substitute teachers decided to boycott the lessons and execute a regional movement,  Malik Ayari, the general coordinator of the representative professors’ coordination, confirmed in a statement to Tunisie Numérique.

Ayari noted that a national movement will also be carried out next Thursday, May 2, in front of the Ministry of Education, revealing that the destination will be the Presidency of the Republic, against the backdrop of delaying the Thousand Batch recruitment, which was planned for before the upcoming school return, until the 2024-2025 academic season. It is the drop that spilt the cup, particularly since the meeting between the General University and the Ministry of Education led to an agreement on the assignment and settling the status of all substitute teachers,.

He added that the substitute teachers are aware of the accuracy of the phase, but the file has stagnated in place for 16 years, as there was no sincerity in dealing with it, remarking that a policy of procrastination was adopted, and age rates were not taken into account. Particularly since it is unacceptable for the situation to continue as it is for another two years.

The speaker mentioned that this was the reason behind sending a letter to the President of the Republic so that justice would be served to the teachers and their situation would be settled, in addition to the fact that the Minister of Education, after being designated to head the ministry, had spoken about the file of the substitute teachers.
