Minister of National Defense, Imed Memmiche, partook, this Friday, December 16, 2022, in the work of the 18th meeting of the Ministers of Defense of the Member States of the 5+5 Initiative in Rabat under the presidency of Morocco.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, Memmiche congratulated during a discourse, the Moroccan authorities for their success in the presidency of the initiative. He hailed the results acquired thanks to the activities of this initiative in the fields of training, maritime and air surveillance and rescue.
Activities that participated in supporting the common operational activities of the armed forces of member nations and which served the security of the western Mediterranean and its stability.
The Minister likewise praised the work carried out by the Maghreb Euro Center for Strategic Research and Studies and the efforts of the Mauritanian Party which oversaw the subject of research for the year 2022 on the exploitation of hydraulic resources and renewable energies As a strategy capable of ensuring stability in the space of the 5+5 initiative. He remarked that Tunisia will do everything to provide the needs of the research project for next year. The subject will be on security west of the Mediterranean: new challenges.
The periodic presidency of the initiative was given to Portugal for the year 2023.
