Tunisia-Mohammad Safi clarifies position of Secondary Education Federation regarding adoption of one-period system during school time

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Mohamed Safi, the General Secretary of the General Secondary Education Federation, stated on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, that they are aiming for a participatory approach to educational reform. This comes in reaction to the remark by the Minister of Education, Mohamed Ali Boughdiri, about executing a one-session system in schools, an initiative based on a pilot experience in the Medenine Governorate.

Safi underscored that the reform process requires comprehensive preparation, especially in terms of infrastructure. He pointed out that public schools and educational institutions are currently encountering numerous challenges. He highlighted that aligning social and school schedules necessitates the involvement and cooperation of various stakeholders in making such a critical decision.

Safi called for the educational reform process to be given the attention it merits. He advocated for engaging in dialogue and negotiation to guarantee that decisions are made based on a scientific and participatory approach. This approach should consider the perspectives of all parties implicated in this important and complex issue. He voiced confidence in their ability to transform the educational landscape in its various facets.
