Tunisia-Nabeul: Maltese Oranges export season to French market begin (video)

The Maltese oranges’ export season to the European continent began on Monday, January 9, 2023, at the governorate of Nabeul.

Head of the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fisheries in Beni Khalled, Bechir Aounellah confirmed to Tunisie Numérique’s Correspondent that between 10,000 and 14,000 tonnes of oranges will be exported.

For his part, the head of the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fisheries in Nabeul, Imed El Bey, stated that 90% of the quantity of Tunisian citrus is planned for export to the French market.

On the other hand, Nabeul farmers have complained of many hardships, including in particular the lack of irrigation water and the high cost of production, in addition to the spread of many diseases in agricultural areas.

It should be stated that the production of citrus fruits for this season has registered a 40%drop.
