The Examining Magistrate in Nabil Karoui’ case has again turned down a request to release him, said Heart of Tunisia in a press release. The judge has denied giving a verdict, saying it was not in his jurisdiction, said Karoui’s attorney Kamel Ben Massoud, adding that they will appeal the decision.
Karoui, the nominee of Heart of Tunisia, progressed to the second qualifying round against Saied, the independent candidate.
Karoui was detained on Aug. 23 on charges of money laundering and tax evasion.
