Tunisia-New measures imposed on travelers in anticipation of a new Covid-19 wave

The Ministry of Health issued a press release on Saturday, October 23, 2021 declaring new health measures in anticipation of a new Covid-19 wave. Many nations are currently registering an increase in the number of SARS-Cov-2 infections with the appearance of a new Delta sub-variant.

The ministry said travellers should now submit a negative RT-PCR test no later than 72 hours before boarding and finish the form available on the e7mi.tn app. Only children under the age of twelve are exempt.

Travellers who have not been vaccinated or who have not finished their vaccination schedule will have to undergo a seven-day self-quarantine at one of the dedicated hotels at their own expense and perform an RT-PCR test on the sixth day.

Antigenic tests will additionally be carried out randomly for travellers upon their arrival on Tunisian soil. Those with positive results will be taken to containment centres. People arriving in Tunisia for medical treatment need to receive authorization from the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health further specifies that people who have got their injections of the Janssen vaccine for 28 days and those who have received their injections of other types of vaccines for 14 days are exempt from compulsory quarantine.

Unaccompanied children under the age of eighteen are exempt from compulsory confinement though they must undergo a seven-day self-isolation. These measures come into effect on Wednesday, October 27.
